As I perused through my gallery of past acting work, I stumbled upon a remarkable gem - a video clip from one of my earliest University assignments, dating back to my first year. This specific project was a theatre module, where groups of three were tasked with performing a scene from Henrik Ibsen's masterpiece, "Hedda Gabler." In light of the post-lockdown, Covid-era, the entire module was to be recorded and submitted online.
Upon revisiting this footage, I was struck by the stark contrast in my approach to acting then versus now. Nowadays, I engage in extensive character work before stepping into a role, striving to fully immerse myself in the character's world, which allows me to embody them more authentically. I have also shed the rigidity I once embodied on stage, which was a problem that had escaped my notice at the time. Today, however, I can attest to my growth and development as an actor, and I take immense pride in it. This video holds a special place in my heart as it serves as a poignant reminder of my journey and how far I have come.
